Fort Stewart to Receive New "Green" Physical Fitness CenterAugust 2011
The Savannah District United States Army Corps of Engineers awarded $15.8 million for a new physical fitness center as part of an ongoing project to build an Infantry Brigade Combat Team Complex at Fort Stewart, GA.
In addition to being state of the art, the Army Corps of Engineers is aiming for the project to be certified LEED Silver as part of the New Building requirements. The new physical fitness center will feature an indoor pool, indoor running track, gymnasium, climbing wall, spinning room and racquetball court encompassing 80,327 square feet.
"It's truly an honor to be a part of a project that is being built to improve the lives of the men and women serving our country," says Jeff Livesay, commissioning agent for Four Seasons Environmental, Inc. "Also, we are excited that we'll be helping the Army Corp of Engineers and Megan Construction to create a sustainable facility."
The physical fitness center, along with the entire Infantry Brigade Combat Team Complex, is scheduled for completion in fall 2011.
