On the Move at Four Seasons

September 2012

September is the America on the Move Month of Action and at FSE we encourage everyone to participate! In today's hectic world, we know it can be difficult to plan meals in advance, find and make healthier recipes, and spend hoursAmerica on the Move logo working out every week. However, this September, challenge yourself to make small changes that will add up in the long run. Set small, attainable goals for yourself, such as adding more fruits and vegetables to your diet, walking 2,000 extra steps each day, and/or eating 100 fewer calories every day. These small changes are easily attainable. In fact, did you know:

  • One can of soda averages 150 calories? By cutting out one can a day, you can save 54,600 calories a year, or more than 15 pounds a year?!
  • A casual 2,000 extra steps to your daily routine can burn an average of 50 calories per day, which equals up to more than 5 pounds in a year?!
  • People who are sleep deprived eat more?! A recent study showed that people who slept two-thirds their usual sleep time (about 80 minutes less per night), ate an average of 550 extra calories the next day than their full-night sleeping counterparts. That's 200,200 calories per year, or 57 pounds!
