Snack Smarter, Live Better

April 2014

Making smarter food choices has health benefits besides losing weight. Studies link nutritional diets to a reduced cancer risk.

By balancing your plate you will also be helping to prevent conditions like heart disease, diabetes and obesity.

How can you take control of your diet? Try some of these suggestions:

1.  Check nutrition labels. You want to eat food full of good nutrients, like vitamins, and not additives.

2.  Snack smarter. Fruits and vegetables make healthier snacks than a bag of chips or candy bar. The natural sugar in many fruits can also tame your sweet cravings.

3.  Eat a variety of foods. Eating the same foods every day is boring. Eating a variety of fruits, vegetables, proteins and grains is good for you

4.  Start a garden. A garden is a great place to grow your own healthy fruits and vegetables.
