Answering the Call
While it is important to acknowledge employees who go above and beyond for our customers, we also want to recognize employees who go above and beyond for each other.
Recently, Jay Widner, Project Manager at the Defense Supply Center Columbus, couldn't establish communication with the DDC controls system. He contacted Dom Dufourcq, Commissioning Agent, and Gary Robinson, Facilities Performance Engineer with FSE, to try to resolve the issue. Stationed two hours away, Dom drove to the DSCC complex and tried to correct the problem for several hours without success. When the issue was still occurring days later, Gary called to talk to Jay again, but in his absence, Nancy Tyler, the Maintenance Scheduler, stepped up to the plate.
"I asked Nancy to go through some steps, check cables, and so on," says Gary. After about 45 minutes, she found something that was unplugged and not in the right place.
"I was really impressed with her willingness to work with me and help me out, because, when including the drive, it saved me at least six hours," says Gary. "It is definitely not in her job description to troubleshoot the DDC control system and networking wiring diagrams!"
Jay adds that this story is a typical example of Nancy's hard work and dedication to her job. "She takes her work very professionally and will work as long as it takes to get the job done to meet a deadline," says Jay.
"She's a self-admitted perfectionist who doesn't let things go out that she doesn't like, and we all look better because of it," Jay notes.
Thank you to Nancy for not only providing excellent service to our customer, but to our team as well!
