August 2018 Nancy Tyler

Name: Nancy Tyler

Project Site:
Defense Supply Center Columbus (DSCC)

Job Title: Maintenance Scheduler

How long have you worked for FSE? 3 years

What do you most like about your job? No two days are the same. I enjoy the challenge of learning new things and keeping up with change. I also love my fellow workers. They are all hard workers and always do their best to help make my job easier (Thank You, Team). They also keep me sane by making me laugh all the time.

What is your favorite place to visit and why? My favorite place to visit is church each Sunday. I try very hard to live a Christ-centered life. Church keeps me grounded and continually reminds me of who I am and where all the good things in my life come from.

What is the best piece of advice you have received? The best pieces of advice I have received were from my parents. My father would always say when departing, "Steady as you go," and my mother-in-law would always stress the importance of "Don't sweat the small stuff."

What do I enjoy when not at work and why? In my free time I enjoy "Anything Creative." I still paint by oil plein-air landscapes from time to time, teach art to youth, make quilts and see myself as doing a lot of different creative things, but not specializing in one. My husband and I take family and senior portraits as well. So I am always doing what I enjoy in one way or another.

Nancy's crafting extends to her work. Nancy recently used spare pieces at work to create a clock and an FSE art installation that hang in the FSE DSCC office!
